Message	every degree of rotation under any engine condition. Case and point: ignition timing. If the ECU were as unreliable as your friend says, then the engine would have some rather catastrophic failures when the ignition timing starts getting mis-timed. The information you got was bogus. There are a number of different things that one can consider which contradicts that info..
